First impression of IS101

Today was my first day in IS101. I was really nervous to start this class cause from what I have heard about this class from other students. I was told if I didn't know much about computers that I would have a difficult time. After talking to Professor Wu on WebEx, he assured me that I would be very successful if I applied the work and time in this class. After the first day of school in class I see that this class was to help us learn about how to use and master the MOS. I wish I knew what IS101 was about before taking a few of my other classes cause this would have helped me out. All in all I should have done my research and check out the layout of the class in stead of listening to other students that gave me the wrong impression of IS101.

  1. Glad you my WebEx meeting you set the correct impression of IS101 for you Brian :-)

Sometimes word of mouth is not always accurate or applicable to you.

    Welcome to IS101-3012, Fall 2022 ^_^

  2. Brian, this class has also helped me out. I really think this class should be taken in the beginning because it really helps us with the essential comprehension of computer literacy. The first week was tough, but it was very informative. You will do great.

  3. I can see how you must have had the wrong impression of this class. Everyone's opinions differ. I completely agree that this is a course that should be recommended to take first. I love how it goes over etiquette and professionalism. It is a great tool for real life scenarios.

  5. I can't entirely agree with you more. This course does take a lot of time. But I believe that "no pain, no gain." All the efforts will be rewarded!

  6. Hello Brian, I'm glad you were able to get your own perspective on the class. I believe in doing research on classes as well as the instructors prior to enrolling so I can get a better understanding of what to expect. I think this is one class we should all rely on each other for support and help. We all have each other's emails and communication is key. Good luck!

  11. I said the exact same thing under Mayra's post in the last few sentences of your blog post. Don't push yourself too hard! As I go through the assignments for Week 1 and 2, I find it's better to complete work in small chunks and come back later.

  13. I also came into the class with a different impression of what to expect. As long as we do the necessary work and pace ourselves I'm sure we'll succeed.

  14. I was also nervous when I first started as well when I took this class 4 years ago. Rest assured, Professor Wu is one of the best teachers and mentors there is. He goes above and beyond to help everyone succeed.

  15. I had the same reaction; I was a little concerned that I might struggle because I don't know much about computer systems, but Mr. Wu said that he would be willing to assist us in succeeding as long as we put in the necessary effort.

  18. I didn't know this class even existed when I got my first degree or I definitely would have taken it then, especially if Mr. Wu was the instructor. I came into the class with an open mind because I learned a while back to take others opinion of classes with a grain of salt and form my own from what I take out of the class.
